Summary

Tieghan Gerard grew up in the Colorado mountains as one of seven children。 When her dad took too long to get dinner on the table every night, she started doing the cooking--at age 14。 Ever-determined to reign in the chaos of her big family, Tieghan found her place in the kitchen。 She had a knack for creating unique dishes, which led her to launch her blog, Half Baked Harvest。 Since then, millions of people have fallen in love with her fresh take on comfort food, stunning photography, and charming life in the mountains。
While it might be a trek to get to Tieghan's barn-turned-test kitchen, her creativity shines here: dress up that cheese board with a real honey comb; decorate a standard salad with spicy, crispy sweet potato fries; serve stir fry over forbidden black rice; give French Onion Soup an Irish kick with Guinness and soda bread; bake a secret ingredient into your apple pie (hint: it's molasses)。 And a striking photograph accompanies every recipe, making Half Baked Harvest Cookbook a feast your eyes, too。
Whether you need to get dinner on the table for your family tonight or are planning your next get-together with friends, Half Baked Harvest Cookbook has your new favorite recipe。

You won’t regret purchasing this cookbook! Delicious, easy, & most of all inspiring。 Has those “duh” moments too when you’re like “why didn’t I put that on toast?”Seriously just get it and bake the bread。

I came across this book on accident, and I was blown away with the flavor combinations and photographs in this book。 I simply was amazed with some of these and cannot wait to try them。

Great recipes。 I also subscribe to her blog and she has great recipes there too。 Lots of good recipes in this book that aren't available on her blog, so this is a keeper。 I will check out her latest book too。 Maybe will just buy the one that speaks most to me。 Great recipes。 I also subscribe to her blog and she has great recipes there too。 Lots of good recipes in this book that aren't available on her blog, so this is a keeper。 I will check out her latest book too。 Maybe will just buy the one that speaks most to me。 。。。more

Some wonderful recipes and multiple preparation options given - so awesome, however - downloaded the ebook version to read on my cellphone and the formatting made the recipes almost impossible to find, or identify。 Recipe titles were displayed in small text at the end of a previous recipe- so had to page back to see what a recipe was for。 I’m sure this cookbook is much better in physical book form。

Very seldom do I find a cookbook with more recipes I’m excited about trying than not。 I’ve cooked about 12 dishes and only one wasn’t absolutely fantastic!! I have 2/3 of it bookmarked to try。 I can’t wait!

"Cooking was my little escape, and it inspired me in a way I didn't even know could be inspired。 The number one reason I love cooking is the reactions I see on people's faces when they take that first bite of a delicious dish。"--------The kitchen essentials in tools are a must; I did not realize how much our kitchen lacked in these everyday essentials。 Oh well, I will try to stay current in the gadget category。 "Cooking was my little escape, and it inspired me in a way I didn't even know could be inspired。 The number one reason I love cooking is the reactions I see on people's faces when they take that first bite of a delicious dish。"--------The kitchen essentials in tools are a must; I did not realize how much our kitchen lacked in these everyday essentials。 Oh well, I will try to stay current in the gadget category。 。。。more

I think the five star ratings are coming straight from people liking the pictures and not from having tried to make the recipes。 There are good recipes in here but almost all are super unhealthy, so keep this in mind (even the ones she says are healthy lol- I don’t think she has any nutrition knowledge base, but to be fair it’s not like she claims to either) and the recipes themselves are immensely unreliable。 One might turn out great and others look nothing like the pictures/don’t taste great e I think the five star ratings are coming straight from people liking the pictures and not from having tried to make the recipes。 There are good recipes in here but almost all are super unhealthy, so keep this in mind (even the ones she says are healthy lol- I don’t think she has any nutrition knowledge base, but to be fair it’s not like she claims to either) and the recipes themselves are immensely unreliable。 One might turn out great and others look nothing like the pictures/don’t taste great even following the recipe exact。 I’ll get her other cookbooks from the library to try, but I’ll be pickier about my selections then other cookbooks bc I don’t really trust that they’ll turn out。 She is talented with flavor combinations though and the diversity of recipes is interesting so it’s worth trying her cookbooks for fun when the stakes are low (don’t host a dinner party and make one of her recipes you haven’t already tried) lol 。。。more

I received this as a gift。 I would give the recipes 2 stars but bumped it up to 3 for the beautiful photography。 I’ve stopped trying new recipes from the book because everyone turns out bad for some reason — drastically undercooked chicken after following the recipe, strange combinations of a ridiculous number of ingredients that ultimately don’t taste good together, way too much liquid in the slow cooker recipes。 Every recipe (and I tried a dozen or more) had something major wrong with it。 The I received this as a gift。 I would give the recipes 2 stars but bumped it up to 3 for the beautiful photography。 I’ve stopped trying new recipes from the book because everyone turns out bad for some reason — drastically undercooked chicken after following the recipe, strange combinations of a ridiculous number of ingredients that ultimately don’t taste good together, way too much liquid in the slow cooker recipes。 Every recipe (and I tried a dozen or more) had something major wrong with it。 The recipes seemed to be by someone very inexperienced。 I tried to enjoy the food, but could only enjoy the photos。 。。。more

This is a recipe book for people who love to cook。 Not easy 15 minute meals。 The recipes require lots of ingredients- some not so readily available。 This isn’t just a fried chicken and meatloaf kind of cookbook either。 You’re getting a huge variety of flavor profiles and cultures。 Asian, Indian and Latin flairs。 I checked this book out at my local library and got to page 25 and I had seen enough。 I went directly to Amazon and bought it。 I know every recipe isn’t going to suit my family but there This is a recipe book for people who love to cook。 Not easy 15 minute meals。 The recipes require lots of ingredients- some not so readily available。 This isn’t just a fried chicken and meatloaf kind of cookbook either。 You’re getting a huge variety of flavor profiles and cultures。 Asian, Indian and Latin flairs。 I checked this book out at my local library and got to page 25 and I had seen enough。 I went directly to Amazon and bought it。 I know every recipe isn’t going to suit my family but there is more than enough to make this a great addition to my repertoire。 I’ve made several of her recipes from her fb page and I’ve not been disappointed yet。 。。。more

Absolutely gorgeous cook book。 Well photographed, fancy looking recipes。 Very little for vegans but if you’re not restricted by that, I think it’d be lovely。

Lots of really great recipes。 Not all are GF but most of them can be easily adapted。 These are on the healthy side。

This book is chock full of beautiful pictures and delicious recipes。 My family has enjoyed exploring new flavors and dishes with this go-to cookbook。

I use her recipes all the time, for a few years, and they are fantastic every time。 Several of her dishes are now in our regular menu rotation。

See my review on her other cookbook for my thoughts。Side note: I made her Salted Honey Butter Parker House Rolls and my dad cried about them。 Actually cried。 Do with that what you will。Another side note: I will almost always give a cookbook author five stars because Lord KNOWS they absolutely know so much more about cooking than I do and I'm not going to pretend I would know the first thing about publishing one。 See my review on her other cookbook for my thoughts。Side note: I made her Salted Honey Butter Parker House Rolls and my dad cried about them。 Actually cried。 Do with that what you will。Another side note: I will almost always give a cookbook author five stars because Lord KNOWS they absolutely know so much more about cooking than I do and I'm not going to pretend I would know the first thing about publishing one。 。。。more

Loved this cookbook! This cookbook really showed me what fun possibilities and unique combinations I can make come together in food。 I highly recommend this cookbook to a skilled beginner cook as there is some different techniques and ingredients that she uses。 Overall, such a fun cookbook to cook through and highly recommend!

Love these recipes as much as I love her ones online。

I have been absent from cookbook reviewing (though not cookbook using) for a few years now after taking a long (seriously long) social media hiatus。 But in a recent quest to find new recipe ideas, I stumbled upon Tieghan Gerard's "Half Baked Harvest" IG account and blog, and found a kindred comfort-food spirit。 This was the cookbook I decided to begin with and it does not disappoint! I discovered this cookbook in a Colorado book store while visiting boulder。 I later discovered her Instagram blog and absolutely love following her and trying out her recipes。 I loved the pretzel chicken strip recipe along with the honey mustard dipping sauce。 Her bbq recipe is up to my liking, but one the sweet and tangy side。 She likes to use a lot of ingredients in her recipes, which sometimes I cut a few of them out, sometimes it’s still a success, sometimes not so much。 She seems to really I discovered this cookbook in a Colorado book store while visiting boulder。 I later discovered her Instagram blog and absolutely love following her and trying out her recipes。 I loved the pretzel chicken strip recipe along with the honey mustard dipping sauce。 Her bbq recipe is up to my liking, but one the sweet and tangy side。 She likes to use a lot of ingredients in her recipes, which sometimes I cut a few of them out, sometimes it’s still a success, sometimes not so much。 She seems to really enjoy her herbs (as do I)。 I would describe majority of her cooking to be on the comfort food side, or at least I tend to be moved more toward those recipes of hers。 。。。more

She had me at Croque Madame Breakfast Pizza and then sealed the deal with Provolone and Salami Phyllo Rolls。 The recipes here are all about quality comfort food for a crowd。 The addition of hummus in lieu of cream to the No-Guilt Broccoli Fettucine Alfredo was reason enough to buy the book。 The recipes are all accompanied by terrific photos and helpful notes for additions, scaling and/or zhuzhing up the dishes。 There are some real gems here!

A delight。 This cook has a wonderful sensibility。 I loved reading the blurbs along the way。

I really like Tieghan Gerard's blog and instagram presence, but this cookbook doesn't have a ton of foods my family would eat。 It's very pretty, and Gerard does a good job at breaking down the steps, but I am glad I didn't buy this。 I really like Tieghan Gerard's blog and instagram presence, but this cookbook doesn't have a ton of foods my family would eat。 It's very pretty, and Gerard does a good job at breaking down the steps, but I am glad I didn't buy this。 。。。more

Tieghan Gerard’s Half Baked Harvest cookbook Recipes from My Barn in the Mountains is a beautiful cookbook。 Striking photographs accompany each recipe。 The author begins her cookbook with suggestions on which kitchen “tools and toys” one will need to complete the recipes found in this cookbook。 The reader can definitely tell that Ms。 Gerard truly enjoys cooking while developing recipes that she states are “DOABLE”。 She covers breakfast, appetizers & snacks (She is one of seven children in the Ge Tieghan Gerard’s Half Baked Harvest cookbook Recipes from My Barn in the Mountains is a beautiful cookbook。 Striking photographs accompany each recipe。 The author begins her cookbook with suggestions on which kitchen “tools and toys” one will need to complete the recipes found in this cookbook。 The reader can definitely tell that Ms。 Gerard truly enjoys cooking while developing recipes that she states are “DOABLE”。 She covers breakfast, appetizers & snacks (She is one of seven children in the Gerard family - so snacks would be a must, I think。), pasta & grains, poultry & pork, seafood, beef & lamb, (mostly) meatless meals, and my favorite - dessert。 As an eat dessert first type of person, one can see why dessert is a favorite category。 The following are recipes on my definitely to do list: PB & J Grilled Cheese, Five-Ingredient Honey Butter Beer Bread, Guacamole 101, The Cheese-Maker’s Mac and Cheese, Mrs。 Mooney’s Penne, 30-Minute Healthier Chicken Parmesan, Beer Can (or one can use chicken broth) Chicken, Potato Chip Chicken (TG’s grandmother’s recipe), and, of course, for dessert - Chocolate Caramel Cake, Molten Chocolate Cake with Whipped Mascarpone, and Death by Chocolate Icebox Cake。 Very impressive。 Looking forward to making the Potato Chip Chicken。 And I am very jealous of this talented creative maker of good things because she lives in the Colorado Mountains, and I went to CU which I absolutely loved! 4。5 stars。 。。。more

I absolutely love this cookbook, as well as the newer one。 I can’t put it down。 Everything I cook from it is superb。 No review I wrote can really do it justice, all I know is I own dozens of cookbooks and hers are the ones I grab off the shelf most frequently by far。 My town recipe Facebook group is obsessed with this book and it sold out at our local bookstore in hours once word got out it was in stock。
